We hadn't yet got comfortable in Victoria when father was asked by the government to work in an important new job as an "Attorney General". The Attorney General was the most important lawyer for the government.

My family had to move to a town called New Westminster. New Westminster was located in a different colony, called the Colony of British Columbia.

When our family moved to New Westminster, it was a growing town. Forests and fields were being cleared for settler families to build their homes there.

We had a little house built for our family, and we called it Ince Cottage after the castle that my grandmother owned in England.

While we were living in New Westminster, our family grew! My sister Josephine was born August 7, 1864, and my brother Lindley was born on March 13, 1867.
