The Crease Children in School

My sisters and I went

My sisters Josephine, Barbara, Susan, and I went to school in Victoria. We went to a school that was just for girls. Our Aunt, Emily Crease taught at one of these schools. In class we took all kinds of subjects, like painting and drawing, history, math, geography, science, and music.

My brothers Lindley and Arthur were sent to school in England. My mother and father, like other parents in those days, thought that school for boys was more important than school for girls. They believed schools in England were better than schools in British Columbia.

At first my brothers were lonely in England, because they missed their friends and family in Canada. We missed them too. But after a while, they got used to being away from home.

My brothers did well in school, and especially liked to play sports, such as lacrosse, a game that was popular both in England and Victoria.
