Equipment Requirements

Here is a list of some of the things that you might take along with you if you were going to prospect in the Cariboo for about one year:

Clothing and Sundries

-Two Mackinaw suits-One English Corduroy suit
-One heavy duck suit-One leather, oil tanned (waterproof)
-One suit oil clothing-One Sou'wester
-One fur coat-One fur cap
-One Woollen cap-One woollen sleeping cap
-Four top shirts-Four heavy undershirts
-Four pairs flannel drawers-One heavy woollen sweater
-Two pair arctic mitts-Two pair Buckskin mitts
-Needles, threads etc-Four pair Arctic understockings
-One dozen heavy woollen socks-One pair blankets
-One wide-awake hat-Two pair duck overalls
-One Fur-lined Sleeping bag-One pair snowshoes
-Two pair gumboots-Two pair overshoes
-Two pair felt-lace boots-One pair fur sleeping boots
-One waterproof blanket-Two pair miner's boots
-One mosquito net-Two pair buckskin moccasins
-Eight towels-One sled or toboggan
-Two gold sacks-One medicine chest
-Two pair eye guards-One tent
-One rifle and 100 cartridges-One rifle cover and cartridge belt
-One gold belt-One sheath knife
-Two pack straps-One pocket compass
-One waterproof sleeping bag
