Communities and B.C.

This gallery provides historical images and information on three British Columbia communities that highlight occupations and events within each community. Included are illustrations of religious sites, commercial locations and activities, and family settlement and activities.


Classroom Activities

  • Demonstrate a simplified version of the Chinese Game of Fan Tan

  • Draw a picture of yourself wearing your everyday clothes. Look at the picture of "Little Pete" Fong Ching and imagine yourself wearing his clothes. Draw how you would have looked in his clothes.

  • Look at the picture of Chinese Quarters, Victoria, 1886. How are these houses the same as yours? How are the different? Compare these houses to your own in a Venn Diagram
