We are able to process requests for specific reproduction orders, permissions forms, FOI requests, and requests for documents required for court/legal purposes.

We are unable to respond to written requests for general research, received either by fax, mail or email, or inquiries with incomplete citations or with limited details. Alternatively if you wish to consider hiring private research assistance, please consult the Independent Research Agent Register.

Before asking your question, we encourage you to consult the following resources:

• BCAUL - The British Columbia Archival Union List which provides access to descriptions of records held at 180 publicly accessible archives in BC.
• CAIN - The Canadian Archival Information Network which is a gateway to archival resources found in over 800 repositories across Canada
• Canadian Genealogy Centre - A Library and Archives Canada service that provides electronic access to genealogical resources in Canada.
• BC Supreme Court Registries - A listing of contact details for court registries to assist with locating court records (including many divorce records).
• BC Vital Statistics Agency - Agency responsible for registering all birth, marriages and deaths in BC; contact agency for non-historic certificates.

We will respond to most questions within 20 working days and answer questions on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not submit duplicate requests.

We are unable to respond to requests submitted by electronic form unless all mandatory fields are completed.

A valid email address should consist of both your email user name, and the machine on which you have a working email account (this may not necessarily be the same machine or Internet IP address from which you are accessing this service). Valid email addresses are typically in the form of: your.name@somemachine.someplace.somewhere

Please check with your systems administrator or service provider if you are unsure of your email address. Otherwise try contacting us via conventional contact points (telephone, fax or mail).

Conventional mailing address information should include: number, street, city, province/state (or other region), country, and postal code.

Inquiries:	Inquiries related to archival holdings, specific records, access, research, or reproduction orders may be submitted via electronic form or Email, as well as by mail or fax.
