	•	Set the initially selected Search Method under Basic Search - Main Indexes.
	•	Set the sort order for the Basic Search. Note: choosing Best Matches (Relevancy) will prioritize or rank the results by the total number of matching words, the density, and the proximity of words to each other. Only those records that match the "best" will be displayed (a few thousand at most).
	•	Set the number of items to display for each index in a page of summarized results.
	•	Set the initial level of detail (amount of information) for each match on a page of summarized results. This can be changed on the summarized results page.
	•	Set the initial display layout / format (this may alter the amount of information displayed as well) when viewing a matching result. This can be changed on the View Result page.

	•	Set the number of lines (individual words or lines of full field contents) that are displayed on a page when browsing.
	•	Set the initial display layout / format when browsing. This can be changed on the View List page when browsing.
	•	Set the number of images displayed (images per row, maximum rows) within Image Contact sheets. Note: Image Contact Sheets are groups of thumbnail size images embedded into a table, resulting from a search on the Visual Records Index.

	•	Set whether the Search History panel should be visible at the bottom of each page. Note: set this preference to "Show" in order to have a hidden Search History panel re-appear.
	•	Set the maximum number of previous searches that are retained and displayed in the Search History panel.
	•	Set whether Information Notes (e.g. this grey background area), should be displayed in full (as it is now), or minimized to a small image on grey to reduce screen clutter. Note: to display the full contents of a minimized infomation note, select the linked image on grey where it appears, or reset this preference from this page.
