J.R. Anderson, the son of A.C. Anderson, left Fort Nisqually in
1850 to attend school in Victoria for two years.  He returned in
1858 and remained until his death.  He was an accountant and
businessman, and from 1894 until 1908, the Deputy Minister of
Agriculture.  He had a keen interest in natural history.  The
collection contains diaries, 1879-1927; notes and correspondence
on the Anderson family; the manuscript of his memoirs with notes
and correspondence and the typescript entitled "Notes and comments
on early days and events in British Columbia, Washington and
Oregon..."; the manuscript of his Trees and shrubs:
food/medicinal, and poisonous plants of British Columbia;
botanical notes; MS. articles on history, natural history, place
names, Indian legends; and accounts of trips to the Queen
Charlotte Islands and to Prince Rupert and up the Skeena in 1909.

James Robert Anderson, the son of A.C. Anderson, left Fort Nisqually
in 1850 to attend school in Victoria for two years.  He returned in
1858 and remained until his death.  He was an accountant and
businessman, and from 1894 until 1908, the Deputy Minister of
Agriculture.  He had a keen interest in natural history.

The records consist of diaries, 1879-1927; notes and correspondence
on the Anderson family; the manuscript of his memoirs with notes and
correspondence and the typescript entitled "Notes and comments on
early days and events in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon...";
the manuscript of his Trees and shrubs: food/medicinal, and poisonous
plants of British Columbia; botanical notes; manuscript articles on
history, natural history, place names, Indian legends; and accounts
of trips to the Queen Charlotte Islands and to Prince Rupert and up
the Skeena in 1909.
